As other Holland America Line reviews also indicate, the Pinnacle Class ships, especially, are perfect for multi-generational families cruising together. It’s a classic “big” ship with lots of amenities and programs (including a casino and art auctions). When your stomach starts growling, there’s a BBQ lunch to tuck into. Perhaps the biggest difference we noticed on the Holland America Rotterdam ship (and the Nieuw Statendam, which we cruised on in early 2020) relates to the onboard entertainment. Designed with lone travelers in mind, they feature full-size beds in lieu of queens, and they're available in the outside category only, ranging from 127 to 172 square feet of space. Although every Holland America ship has a kids club on board, the youth spaces aren't as expansive and thrilling as the facilities on the larger and more family-friendly cruise lines. They have policies in place to isolate and wear a mask if you are sick, and even call 911. Over half the passengers and crew were sick by the end of our 31 day cruise. They failed to take even the most basic precautions to protect the health of their passengers and crew.
